2024 LFA Fellowship Applications Now Open!

Two LFA Fellowships will be awarded in 2024 enabling young professionals to investigate key issues facing contemporary landscape and environmental practice.

LFA Fellowships are a key program under the Foundation’s ‘Investing in Knowledge’ strategic priority. They support the personal and professional development of emerging leaders working in fields that impact and shape existing and future urban landscapes and natural environments of Australian cities and towns.

The $10,000 Fellowship provides resources for young practitioners to pursue a topic of interest, travel, and/or carry out a special project that aligns with LFA’s purpose.

The ideas generated and material produced during the LFA Fellowship year will be shared by the Foundation through webinars, publications, and as freely available resources on the LFA website. These outcomes will contribute to the growing body of knowledge on protecting, restoring and managing the health and sustainability of landscapes and natural environments in Australia’s cities and towns.

Throughout 2023, LFA Fellow, Brittany Johnston (above), investigated how the true value of ‘natural capital’ can be accounted for in economic valuation. The Fellowship funded her travel to the United States, where she was a delegate to Climate Week/New York City in September.

LFA invites early- to mid-career professionals who are keen to explore new and leading practice, innovation and leadership opportunities within the broad fields of:

• landscape planning, design and management

• urban and regional strategic environmental planning

• environmental engineering, natural asset management

• urban environmental sciences, including ecology, soil science, ecosystems restoration

• biodiversity restoration and sustainable management

• social sciences, particularly in relation to community health, wellbeing and resilience in relation to nature.

Applications that present innovative proposals in a field other than those listed above and considered relevant to LFA’s purpose will also be considered.

Fellowship Guidelines and application forms can be found here:
