The twin challenges of climate change and biodiversity loss we now face have resulted from humanity not valuing or respecting nature. But through our combined efforts, we can shift attitudes and behaviours to ensure nature is healthy and resilient.

LFA is a not-for-profit organisation powered by committed volunteers and professionals who share a vision of a world in which people and nature are in balance. Because most people now live in towns and cities, our focus in on urban landscapes and natural environments that offer the potential for large-scale nature-positive change.

This is what we are doing to achieve our goal:

  • Working with community groups to help them define their vision and take action to protect and restore nature in the urban landscapes of towns and cities to make them more liveable and resilient

  • Funding research to better understand the value of nature in urban landscapes for the health and well-being of people - and sharing the research findings to inform practitioners and policymakers.

  • Supporting young people in landscape-related fields with fellowships and scholarships to help them develop knowledge and leadership skills so the next generation can create healthy and sustainable urban landscapes

  • Advocating for changes to our economic systems so that the value of nature is fully accounted for in public and private funding allocation and investments
